6 International Students Won the 2021 Academic Excellence Award

University of Science and Technology of China

The list of the students for the 2021 Academic Excellence Award is determined by International College Teaching Committee after their reviewing and discussing the students’ application materials, and the list has been announced on the official website of International College as required. This year, 6 international students were selected due to their outstanding academic performance. On November 15, the Awarding Ceremony was held in the Lecture Hall 307 of International Building.

Mr. Jiajie JIANG, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation and Vice Dean of International College, Prof. Nikolas Freris, Vice Dean of International College, Ms. Judy SHEN, Director of International Students Office, staff members of International College, award-winning students, and representatives of international students who are at present on campus attended the ceremony.

Mr. Jiajie JIANG delivered a cordial and encouraging opening speech. He fully affirmed the outstanding performance and positive spirit of the international students, acknowledged the great supervision of their professors, exerted his best wishes to the students for a bright future in their academic career, and hoped that they could keep it up and dedicate much to the well-being of the whole world.

Then, Mr. Jiajie JIANG presented the Certificates of Honor to the students. They are: Islam Mohamed Moustafa Abdellatif, Majad Mansoor, Ayesha Zahid, Amara Ilyas, Marina Hakim and Samina Irshad.

Majad Mansoor, a second-year doctoral student from Department of Automation, delivered a speech as a representative of the award-winning students. In his speech, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone who helped him during his study at USTC, including his supervisor Prof. Qiang LING, his labmates, and staff members of International College. He also shared his scientific research experiences with the international students at present.

The Academic Excellence Award not only implies an affirmation of the performance of the students, but also is an incentive for the international student’s community. We hope our international students could follow these examples, and eventually become extraordinary international talents.
